MBTA (Boston local bus, subway, and train)

NOTE: Subsidized MBTA monthly passes are sold from 9 am to 5 pm at the BWH cashiers office (near the main BWH entrance, near "Au Bon Pain") on the last 5 days of each month. Bus $16, Subway $21, Combo (bus + subway) $37. Cash only. One pass per person per month. BWH ID required.

Renting Autos

Renting cars can be a good way to make short trips. Using "Harvard University" or BWH or Partners Corporate account, you can get upto 12% discounts on car rentals. Using American Express or some gold or platinum cards, you can save the daily insurance fees. Look into your card agreement for details, or call them before renting a car. Not applicable to rent moving trucks. Book in advance to get good rates. Also, rental fee varies from location to location, hence find out the cheapest location in the city. Don't forget your FF miles. If you rent cars frequently, research into "deals" and rewards that can get you free upgrades or free days. Here is a list of car rentals agencies in the Boston area. Subscribe to "Travel specials" email lists from airlines for very modest special weekend airline, hotel, and car rental combo rates with FF benefits.
